Pre-Summit #1:

It’s time for Radical Love: Building Beloved Community through Critical Wellbeing in Schools

This dynamic pre-summit experience will teach leaders at every level of our education system how the Critical Wellbeing framework—a paradigm rooted in trauma-informed care and healing-centered education—doesn't add one more "thing" to their plate, but rather catalyzes sustainable, transformative SEL. This session will step away from business as usual and explore real-world case studies from Indigenous-led educational ecosystems around the globe, showcasing how to reduce staff burnout, increase student engagement, and deepen authentic parent/community involvement in culturally-grounded ways. Join this dynamic, action-oriented session to take a deep dive into new, evidence based ideas, powerful strategies, and practical tools for cultivating Beloved Community in your context. Participants will leave with permission and support to embody radical love in these complex times while taking better care of themselves and those they serve. **Please note that space is limited in this session to ensure an interactive experience with Dr. Rivera for all attendees.**

Pre-Summit - $115

Pre-Summit #2:

Reimagining Schools as Centers of Wellness for the Communities they Serve

Please join Sacramento County Office of Education’s Mental Health and Wellness team as we facilitate a 3-hour experiential learning journey with educators from all levels of the system on how to create “Schools as Centers of Wellness.”

The focus of this session will be on coaching school, district, and county leaders on how to set the conditions for successful partnerships.

We will explore how a County Office of Education partners with 12 school districts and places clinicians in 58 of Sacramento’s neediest schools using a sustainable funding model. Participants will receive practical tools and resources including role-aligned roadmaps for success.

Highlights for the session include:

- Examining systems level change, including how relationship building, social and emotional wellbeing practices, wellness programming, and other prevention strategies are built into the entire school community, such that all students can experience Schools as Centers of Wellness;

- Learning about the importance of relationships with the County Department of Health and how that can lead to sustainable funding and growth; and

- An expert panel including critical partners discussing the key elements to successful partnerships, and the impact this has made on their school communities.

Pre-Summit #3:

The Heart of the Game: Fostering SEL Through Positive Sports Culture

Join Ruthie Bolton - two-time Olympic gold medalist, eight-season star player for the WNBA’s Sacramento Monarchs, and member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame - for an up-close and personal discussion about her life, her career, the challenges she’s overcome, and the assets and strengths that pulled her through. Based on her experiences, Ms. Bolton has become an advocate for positive coaching that intentionally brings social and emotional support onto the playing field.

Following Ms. Bolton’s inspirational story, participants will explore how to intentionally infuse social and emotional supports and learning into physical education, athletic programs and coaching practices. Resources provided include an SEL curriculum for sports and physical education developed by Ms. Bolton and her colleague, Beth Hunter, as well as practices and structures developed by the Inside Out Initiative and the Sacramento County Office of Education’s own, DeShannus Gray. In conversation around these resources, participants will share their own expertise, gather new ideas and practices, and develop a playbook for better supporting young athletes with a balanced and integrated social emotional approach.
